City of Plymouth Concert Band was formed over 25 years ago to provide local musicians with a focus for ensemble playing. The band membership is of wide age range and musical background. Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings between 7.30 and 9.30 p.m at Peverell Park Methodist Church, Peverell Park Road , Plymouth. An extensive library of music from the wind band repertoire is available. The band rehearses more challenging works as well as less difficult arrangements to enhance the enjoyment and development of all members. Concerts are performed throughout the year at a variety of venues. There is no requirement for audition or formal musical qualification though as a guide a standard of grade 5 or above would be the norm. The current membership fee (2009/10) is £30 per year. Frank Huxham is the Musical Director and Simon Cartwright is our Deputy Conductor.
