National
Marine Aquarium, Plymouth (UK)
The
National Marine Aquarium was the first aquarium in the
United Kingdom to be set up solely for the purpose of
education, conservation and research. It remains Britain's
foremost aquarium and in the six years it has been open
it has attracted over two million visitors through its
doors and thousands of enquiries by letter, telephone,
fax and email.

National
Lobster Hatchery, Padstow (UK)
At
the heart of the NLH’s work is their lobster restocking
project. Local fishermen bring “pregnant”
female lobsters in to us, to give them a chance to release
their delicate offspring in captivity, where there are
no predators. The young lobsters are then raised to a
size where they can be released back into the sea and
look after themselves. The hatchery's work is on view
for anybody coming to the visitor centre.
